I am an interdisciplinary artist and events facilitator based in London. My work revolves around three chosen mediums: food, textiles, and film. Through these mediums, I explore community, diasporic variety, and the intricacies of queerness. I intend for my work to challenge and decolonise traditional methods of teaching and receiving information. Accordingly I actively seek audience participation to emphasise the importance of interactivity as a teaching tool.
Since 2019 I have used food as a means to explore and relay macro-histories pertaining to the Global South by making films and developing menus. I have been partnering with The Bow Arts Trust and Mother at Mosaic to imagine these concepts. This includes the supper club - Uncomfortable at home: Food is our common language, (2023) - and my ongoing seasonal residency at Mother at Mosaic (2021- ) where I bring to life my menu concepts.
My facilitation work intends to disrupt hetero-eurocentric creative structures by creating counter spaces where Global South creatives can openly and comfortably exist. This includes Mosaic for Afghan Women, (2022) at The London School of Mosaic and The South Asian Makers Market, (2023) at the Redbridge Central Library.
